Delivering my local plan for Murray-Wellington

My wife, Bridget, and I raised our family here in our community on farmland where my parents built a home in the early ‘60s.

To this day, we continue to cherish the country lifestyle of this wonderful region. I’ve been the President of the Shire of Murray since 2017. I want to continue delivering for our community as your member for Murray-Wellington.

As part of the Mettam Liberal Team, I will deliver real solutions for Murray-Wellington, driven by the right priorities to build a better future.

Meeting so many locals during this campaign has been a privilege, and your feedback has shaped my local plan.

Right priorities.
Real solutions.

The Liberals' plan to build a better WA.

Quality healthcare should be a right for every Western Australian, regardless of where they live.

Sadly, our rural and regional areas have been overlooked for too long. I am determined to change that by advocating to build a new regional public hospital near Ravenswood in addition to a Health Hub in Pinjarra at the site of the old Murray Districts Hospital, both designed to meet the health needs of our fast-growing community and increasing population.

I also support expanding rural clinics, boosting telehealth programs, and adding specialist staff, particularly into the Harvey Hospital, to ensure families in our regional areas get the care they need.

ACCESSIBLE HEALTHCARE FOR ALL

We know everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home.

I am fighting to restore the dream of home ownership and support all members of our community by streamlining regulations to fast-track residential developments, with a focus on unlocking more greenfield land for new home construction in and around Waroona, Harvey and Dwellingup.

I will also look to expand the funding for additional aged care beds and retirement homes so our elderly residents can stay close to loved ones and those looking to downsize have housing options that will allow them to stay in their local community longer.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND THRIVING COMMUNITIES

Safe roads are essential for all of us.

I am pushing for increased funding to upgrade our rural roads and ensure safe travel with the South Yunderup Bridge Replacement which will include a further access route onto Forrest Highway to cater for the growth in Austin Lakes.

I will advocate to build the overdue Pinjarra Heavy Haulage Deviation to keep 800 trucks per day out of the Pinjarra town centre, and boost funding and better contracts that support and encourage local and private bus operators that provide safe, reliable, and affordable transport for rural school students and regional communities.

IMPROVED RURAL ROADS AND SAFER OPTIONS

I am passionate about making Murray-Wellington a tourist destination of choice, supporting local businesses, and creating jobs by building new trails and tourism attractions.

I’ll do this by working to develop cycling and walking trails around Harvey and Brunswick to draw in more visitors.

The Heritage Rail Revival will see steam trains with a dedicated heritage rail link between Dwellingup and Pinjarra, and I’ll fight for investment in upgrading campsites and increasing accommodation options around Waroona’s Lake Navarino and the town of Dwellingup.

GROWING OUR TOURISM ECONOMY

Community sports unite us, but many facilities are very outdated.

I’ll also fight for upgraded change rooms at the Sir Ross McLarty Football Pavilion and the improvement of rural and regional sports facilities with modern lighting.

Additionally, I support the redevelopment of the Pinjarra Golf Club, including plans for a new clubhouse, community function centre, mini-golf course, and driving range.

FIGHTING FOR SPORTS FACILITY UPGRADES

I am determined to provide our young people with the best opportunities to succeed.

My priorities include fighting to upgrade regional schools so every child has a modern, inspiring place to learn; attracting talented teachers by offering incentives, professional development, and more rural housing options; and boosting TAFE access and linking schools with our local businesses, ensuring our young people can smoothly transition from education to full time employment.
